AS Levels

  • Aug. 14th, 2008 at 5:30 PM
I thought I would update you all with my results which I got today. I don't think I did too badly!

Sociology- B
Religious Education- C
Health and Social Care- E

In health and social I knew I wouldn't pass since two of the units consisted of coursework and our teachers didn't have a clue what they were doing in these units so we had no chance and I think maybe one or two people in a class of 20 got C's. In my sociology I was so close to an A! There was 3 modules and I got A's in two of them and C in the other. In one of the modules I was 7 marks from the top mark possible! I'm thinking I can maybe get it remarked or resit the C exam next year.

I've been finding out about the college I'm going to next year from friends who attend it. They say I can come in on sociology in the A2 year so I don't have to restart it again and I can continue my B grade over and bring it up to an A.

Personally I'm quite happy with the results!

Long Time No Update!

  • Jun. 30th, 2008 at 11:27 PM
I really never bother to update this thing. The only reason I have it I think is to keep up to date with my internet friends! The last thing I mentioned was the Bon Jovi concert which happened at the start of the month, shows how long its been. Apart from getting lost on the way there and not getting back until 4am it was amazing. Two and a half hour set with all of their best songs, Its my life, Living on a prayer etc. Also my favourite Bon Jovi song, Always, I grabbed my sisters arm and practically screamed when I recognised it. There was also some crazy girl that managed to get on stage and kiss Jon (the lead singer) he just said that irish girls were crazy and that was why he married one which made me laugh. It was the best concert I've ever been to! I want to see them live again and soon because they are so amazing live. Support- Razorlight (good could do with a little more crowd interaction apart from hello, goodbye, this is our last song) DC Tempest (didn't pay much attention to them to be honest they weren't bad), Kid Rock (spent most of their set on the amusements provided so I couldn't hear them)

Other randomness- Still trying to decide what to do for my birthday I think a party is out because of trouble trying to get a place. My friend is telling me to have a dinner with our closest friends which sounds like a good idea so I might just do that. Its my 18th can't just do nothing since my 16th was such a downer, I was practically an invalid and couldn't blow out my candles, not fun!

I applied to two courses at the local college (A Levels and a health and social care course) I am currently doing A Levels at my secondary school and I hate it. I liked the school up until this year but I really don't now. The only thing I will miss is the great friends I gained over the past 6 years. The funny thing is my parents fully support my decision to go to the college which is strange they are all for school. I held of telling them for a month or so because I was so worried about their reaction and they fully supported it! Which is great. The college is a 10 minute walk from where I live so its fantastic as long as I get accepted!

Met an internet friend for the first time on Saturday, Rachel, she's great and we had fun getting lost and walking in and out of places again and again! We also saw Kung Fu Panda and I can say I fully recommend it! Its funny and a great story. The only thing was we were three teenagers sitting in a cinema full of adults with little kids and we were laughing our heads of! I love Po the panda, Jack Black did a great job. And Rachel and I had fantastic fun dancing to Kung Fu Fighting at the end!

Doctor who on Sat- Wow! Don't know what to say great episode and I have no idea how they are going to get out of the ending but I can't wait for the next episode! The last two have been so great I sure hope the finale lives up to them. Nice to see Russell T Davies write something decent for once.

Haha that was long and well done for sticking with it to the end if you have!

Thats my guitar which I kind of told Abbi I would post a picture of a while ago. I'm getting better at playing I can play the three basic chords and I am getting quicker at chord changes so without a guitar teacher I'd say I'm doing pretty well. Two slight problems I don't have a guitar strap and even if I did there appears to be nowhere I can attatch one to the guitar. This means that I have to sit when playing my guitar but this is always really awkward as it has to sit on my knee and I'm really small so it kinda doesn't fit. 2nd I appear to have lost both of my picks due to my own stupidness.

Guitar

  • Feb. 9th, 2008 at 8:59 PM
So I decided to get musical and buy myself a guitar. Mum's told me to stop spending money after I got the new mobile phone but now I actually have money I want to spend it. Anyway the guitar is great and I got a guitar book out of Bargain Books for £10 which takes you through all the chords etc. I've been trying a few basic ones. My cousin teachs guitar so I might see if he can give me lessons only problem is he lives a bit away and we don't have a car.

New Mobile Phone!

  • Jan. 31st, 2008 at 4:14 PM
I was wasting too much money on pay as you go so I decided to get a contract phone since I can now pay for it myself. It costs £35 per month and £35 every three months for insurance. Its on t-mobile so I get 1800 free texts or minutes every month which suits me just fine. This is my new phone-

Also everyone please sign this to get scoliosis screening in UK schools so that it can be picked up much easier in children.

I know the weekend isn't exactly over yet but I've had a great time! Friday night my sister and I jumped on a train to Dublin great train ride where I got hit on using playing cards. Got there and the hotel was great. We went to a midnight show at the Ambassador Theatre (across the street from the hotel) to see 30 Seconds To Mars and I had to look 18 so some make up was in need. Anyway in short the show was absolutely fantastic we even managed to meet some Belfast guys in the queue. Pics! I have no idea how to do cuts sorry.

GCSE results

So I didn't do the best. In the end I got-

History- B
English- B
Maths- C
Sociology- C
RE- C
Science- DD
French- D

I passed maths and english which means no resits, woohoo! I'm so delighted about maths because we had the crappiest teacher and I had to work hard for it. History I'm also delighted about because my teacher originally put me in for foundation saying that if I did higher I would get a D I switched to higher on the day of the exam and proved him wrong! I'm going to go find him first day back which is next Thursday.

I finally decided I should get a job part time even though I'll be getting £30 a week next year for staying on at school. Nichola and I needed to get clothes so we went into town and looked for applications as well. We got them for early learning centre and birthdays but birthdays is full time unfortunately. When I got home I went looking on the job centre website and theres a job in 02 which is 8 hours a week and it pays £6.70! You don't need any training or qualifications! I was on that quick, I applied at their website and I'm hoping I get the job now!

There's been a few problems with getting my provisional driving licence processed. They sent my passport back last week so everything was alright with the form. This week however they sent me a doctors form I think I may have ticked something to do with having problems driving due to my back. The form basically asked for my doctor to sign it saying they could have access to my medical records. Took the form to the doctor and spoke to the receptionist who said come back and collect it on Monday. I'm getting frustrated now if I don't have it by the time of my first lesson I can't start driving yet.

It was my birthday last Friday and I had such an awesome day. I didn't do anything special because two of my best friends are away on holiday so I'm waiting until they are both back to do something properly with them. I got good presents, Snow Patrol tickets for September 1st in Bangor, a 30 Seconds To Mars cd that I have been wanting for months and haven't been able to find anywhere and 10 driving lessons paid upfront. Also on my birthday the newspaper was advertising the fact that My Chemical Romance were doing a gig here in November me and my friend Lisa LOVE My Chemical Romance. A few quick texts to her and I booked the tickets they arrived today! My parents ended up paying for them and adding them on as an extra birthday present which is amazing. I've been trying to find out who the supporting acts are so far no proper information but I pretty much love who is supporting them at other venues so I'm hoping they are supporting them heer as well.

Also the groom from the wedding I attended in Turkey has only just got back here. The wedding was on June 29th and he got back on Monday. The turkish consolate didn't believe that their wedding was real they thought that he had married Jennifer so he could get a visa. Anybody at that wedding could have told them it wasn't true and a few people even threatened to fly back over and tell them that. Anyway Bulent is safely back in Belfast and having some problems adjusting to the weather here but apart from that he is fine. There is a party next Friday to welcome him over and also for anyone from Belfast who couldn't make it for the wedding.

I turn 17 on Friday and am therefore legally able to drive. I sent away for my provisional licence about 2 weeks ago and I got my passport back a few days ago so I'm assuming I'll have the licence sometime this week. My parents have booked me lessons and the driving instructor called today. His name is Ed although I'm not sure if he'll be my instructor or if he just works with the school. He set a date for the 23rd August which confused my mum as she had set a date for next Monday. I now have to get up early next Monday in case he does come and if he doesn't my lesson will be on the 23rd.

I queued up for the Harry Potter book on Friday night (You can call me sad I don't care). Me, my sister and friend were very near the front like 20th in queue and they were going around handing out Gryffindor scarves. We grabbed a few and then this woman who was further down in the queue from us came up and asked could she buy one from us. My friend Judy made a joke about how much and the woman ran of to get her purse because she knew they wouldn't reach her because of how far down she was. While the woman was getting her purse they came around with the scarves again. I grabbed one for the woman and gave it to her when she got back. She was so grateful! She gave me a massive hug and run of she came back like 30 seconds later with a big bag full of sweets and crisps and gave most of them to us! Anyway it turns out that she was queueing for the book for her little brother who has leukeamia and is undergoing treatment at the moment so is therefore too weak to come down himself and that is who the scarf was for. I was so glad I got the scarf for her and didn't make her buy one of us I hope it cheered her brother up a little.

As for the book- WOW! I absolutely loved it! It was simply amazing and JK Rowling completely outdid herself writing this one. It is by far my favourite of the series. I actually cried when certain characters died which is odd for me because I never cry at books but it was just so sad! I had a few worries about what was going to happen with the book but I was completely amazed by how good it was. Definitely worth a read.

Oh yes I watched Fight Club last night because Lisa asked me to so I could see Jared Leto with blonde hair. I was so pleasently surprised by how good the movie was and Jared Leto was so strange looking with his blonde hair I wouldn't have recognised him if Lisa hadn't told me.

Oh my birthday is not this Friday but the next. I can't believe how quickly it came I'm getting driving lessons and a few other things for it but I'm excited about the driving lessons and I'm hoping that we actually have a car by the time I've passed.

One last thing going to see the Simpsons movie tomorrow!

"List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to."

30 Second To Mars- Was it a dream (acoustic). I adore the band and this song is fantastic just when its done acoustically Jared Leto's voice really shines through. Beautiful.

Lost Prophets- Rooftops. Love the band but this song is by far my favourite by them it just rocks completely.

Foo Fighters- Best Of You. I knew of this song for a while but only just found out who sung it. The song is brilliant and after listening to a few others by the band its become a firm favourite.

Joshua Radin- Winter. Might seem out of place in amongst all the rock music but I fell in love with it after Scrubs used it in the episode My Screwup. Its just so beautiful and sad at the same time plus it always gets stuck in my head.

Goo Goo Dolls- Iris. I have no idea why but I just adore this song some people on a website recommended it and I thought it really can't be that good I fell in love with it after a few plays.

Damien Rice- Cannonball. I love his voice so much and this song is my favourite by him it just has a lovely tune which gets stuck in my head for hours.

Snow Patrol- Chasing Cars. I don't care how popular it is Snow Patrol rock and this song is just awesome.

Back to an update. Harry Potter is out tomorrow night and me, Nichola and my friend Judy have plans to go queue for it. I really can't wait to find out all that happens in the book I've been waiting two years! It better all be worth it but I have faith in JK Rowling.

1 year!

  • Jul. 10th, 2007 at 12:05 PM
As of today it has been exactly one year since my scoliosis surgery! I can't believe it the time really has flown and I have such clear memories of hospital and the recovery it just doesn't seem like one year! I'm delighted to have made it this far though.

Nichola know how much I really love Snow Patrol and they are coming to Bangor in September so guess what she got me for a birthday present? SNOW PATROL TICKETS! I can't believe it! I know my birthday isn't till next month but she showed me them anyway and I'm so delighted. They are standing tickets so I think I'll take a few painkillers before I go just to make sure I have sn awesome time. Nichola is coming along with another friend.

Oh and yes if you didn't get this from the rest of the post I returned safely from Turkey. The wedding was beautiful and I had great fun. Photos and a video will be found at this link-

This is not all the photos as they are on three different cameras and this is only one I haven't uploaded the rest yet but please enjoy.
